Book Tatkal Ticket

  • Pre Booking Checklist
    • Save passenger details in IRCTC website, so that you can select them quickly during booking.
    • Always have a backup plan in case you don't get a ticket of your choice. Have a list of alternative trains and classes ready.
    • Take help of your friends or family and use multiple devices to increase your chances of getting a ticket.
  • Login to IRCTC website on 5 minutes before the booking opens.
    • 10:00 AM for AC class and 11:00 AM for non-AC class
    • Always use desktop website, as mobile app is unreliable.
  • Fill in Journey details to find trains
    • Use tatkal or Premium tatkal as per your requirement.
    • Premium tatkal is more expensive(dynamic pricing) but has better chances of getting a ticket.
    • Separate seats for premium tatkal than tatkal. so basically its 99% sure that you'll get the seat.
  • Select the train and class of travel
    • search for the train and put your cursor on any other class(i.e. suppose you want to book 3A click on 2A or 1A) do all this before 10 am and as soon as the clock hits 10 click on 3A(if you want to book this) it will get updated after some seconds and you will be able to book your ticket.
    • Don't refresh the again and again. only refresh about 10-15 seconds before 1000 hrs.
  • Fill in passenger details
    • Make sure to check "Book only if confirmed births allowed" option, so that you won't get a waitlisted ticket.
    • Don't select any seat preference, as it reduces the chances of getting a ticket.
  • Payment
    • Use UPI for payment, as it is the fastest and most reliable method.
